I have worked as an architect with over 12 years of progressive experience from reputable firms in the industry in various project phases that span across construction administration, construction document production and design to project management. I have worked on a wide range of projects from small residential to large grocery stores and shopping malls, interior fit-outs for corporate offices, religious institutions, hotel projects and a world-famous landmark skyscraper project. While my experience has been well rounded, I have a passion for construction management and coordination with an emphasis on technical detailing and design. I have excellent free-hand sketching and rendering skills and I am proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe suite, and SketchUp. I have completed my IDP through NCARB and I am currently taking the licensing exams under ARE 5.0. and I’m on track to licensure and LEED AP BD+C certification by the end of 2021.
I currently work for an architecture firm in the city’s River West neighborhood. I started my career when I was very young- making art of all kinds, starting from greeting cards and sketches to more intricate airplane models. I made a ton of drawings and paintings for friends and family. I was about 10 years old when I first traveled to the Middle East, where my father worked as an engineer for a petroleum company. My travels to Qatar influenced my interests in both art and science. I was fascinated by airplanes and airports and what was then considered to be a culture of exclusive ‘travel decadence’ that was enjoyed by international travelers in the 80’s.
After high school, I enrolled in college for a Bachelor program in architecture in Bangalore, India where I soon realized that I was good at assimilating the fundamental concepts of design and visualization and expressed them freely through my sketching and 3d model making. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree, I chose to go the US for a master’s program in architectural design.
The faculty at IIT was an amazing group of practicing architects and intellectual academicians of international acclaim. I had the privilege of working with Prof. George Schipporreitt, who encouraged me through out my Master’s thesis highrise project. After graduating from IIT, I soon had the opportunity to work for a few prestigious firms in the world and gather some rich and unique work experience. I have been honored to work with top international firms and experts in the field.
I currently live with my husband and our 10 year old Siberian Husky in Rogers Park, blocks away from Lake Michigan.
